Square outdoor light sensor

The photoelectric light sensor (photocell) is an intelligent lighting control device that responds to ambient light levels. It automatically turns the lights OFF during the day and ON at night, providing convenient and energy-efficient lighting control.

It is widely used in street lighting, factories, ports, gardens, schools, and many other outdoor applications. It can also be connected to residential lighting fixtures, illuminated advertising signs, neon lights, and security or monitoring lights.

The automatic switching unit consists of a power switching device with a built-in power module, an electronic sensing element, and an internal relay. During daylight, as the ambient light intensity increases, the current flowing through the photosensitive element also increases, causing the relay to switch OFF and disconnect the lighting load. When the ambient light drops below a preset level at dusk, the current decreases due to the reduced light intensity, activating the relay to automatically switch the lights ON until daylight returns the following day.

Installation Notes

• Avoid installing the photocell in locations with insufficient daylight exposure or where it is directly affected by nearby artificial lighting or strong reflected light, as this may interfere with proper operation.
• Connect the white wire to the power supply (input) and the red wire to the lighting load (output).
• When testing the product during daylight or under strong lighting conditions, cover the sensor with an opaque material to simulate darkness.
• For outdoor installations, ensure that the blue sensing window is facing upward to achieve the best sensing performance and long-term reliability.
